Why is the Parliament to be dissolved and have new elections next May?

I live in Brazil and brazilian parliament is renewed only each four years with new elections. I don’t understand the pressure on Gordon Brown about the War in Middle West. It was the former prime minister who engaged in it. And the offenses atributed to Brown agains the Down Street staff are true?
